A unique Experience

Behind the stage of the Theatri, you can access a magical location where you can visit the reproduction of an antique Neapolitan “Basso” furnished with early 20th century furniture and complete of living room, bedroom and kitchen.

Here you will also be able to taste typical dishes and products of the Neapolitan culinary tradition.

History of the “BASSO”

The basso, also known with the Neapolitan term of ‘o vascio, which literally means”low” due to their location, are small houses with one or two rooms on the ground floor, with direct access to the street.

The basso is an icon of the ancient misery of the Neapolitan people, its history is linked to the phenomenon of the great urbanization of the city of Naples which took place between the 16th and 17th centuries.

To support Theatri and the local economy, inside the basso you will find souvenirs and gadgets produced by small local artisans which you can buy by making a donation to the association.
